Red tides: neither tides nor red. Their impact on the rías
On 12 February 2026 I gave a talk at IES Escolas Proval (Nigrán) titled “Red tides: neither tides nor red. Their impact on the rías”, held around the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Afterwards we ran a microscopy workshop, where ESO and Bachillerato students got to look through the microscope at real marine microorganisms (phytoplankton) — including some of the toxin-producing dinoflagellates behind the very red tides we’d just been talking about!
